The River Lodge is well situated to take advantage of superb fishing in the Auckland/Waikato, Taranaki, Taupo and Wellington regions, and a fishing guide can be arranged.

Helicopter transport in and out of the lodge to fishing spots is available using a local helicopter service (there is a landing area on the property).

There is also catch and release fishing right at the lodge in the Mangawhero River. Fishing waters within an hour's drive include the Whanganui River, Whakapapa River, Manganuioteao River, Lake taupo and the Tongariro River.
