In September 2023 i started searching for a accommodation for one of my good Swiss friends who wanted to visit me and spend some weeks at The River Lodge to start his retirement. Because I had no spare rooms, i had to find something adequate for him like a trailer, a camper, a sleep out or similar. Unfortunately, nothing good popped up online. To expensive, to run down, to small or just not matching to my place here.
And then i found a picture of this boat and felt in love with the shape of it. I messaged the owner asking for toilet and or shower on the boat. His answer was short and a kind of unfriendly; you have to piss over the reeling.
OK... funny guy... you lighted my fire. After some more question - answer combinations he even offered me a cheaper price, not even asked from my side. As a sailor I well knew, that the buying price will not be the end of the costs, i agreed and was then the owner of this boat, built 1904 in Wellington by a Lady Boat Builder.
After this deal done, the boat was still sitting somewhere at the Kapiti Coast. In the yard of the owner. So transport needs to be organized.
